hi there! I’m really new to owning taxidermy but have bought myself various skulls like muskrat, fox and mink that have all arrived today. The fox came from a different seller and smells awful. Kinda like a slightly chemical urine scent? But I just tried giving it a soak in some soapy water then sprayed it with a body mist just to try and ease the smell but now it just smells like a tropical fart. Not the mention the skull looks completely clean. What can I try as a beginner?

You will probably have better luck posting in the beginner's or skull cleaning sections. This ended up in forum operations. If I got a cleaned skull that was still smelly, I'd check for grease and degrease if needed. Then put in peroxide. Wonder if the smell is from ammonia used to clean the skull? Hopefully someone more experienced with skulls can chime in.
