Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but I've spent the last week trying to figure out what animal this came from.
I picked it up at Goodwill so I have no background on it.
I would like to make sure it's from an animal that is legal to own parts of!

It depends also on where you are at but I'd call it a bear tooth and wouldn't worry too much about it. Remember the burden of proof is on them.

Fair point, but I am still pretty curious what it’s from. It doesn’t look much like a bear tooth to me, but again I’m not an expert.

My desire to know what it’s from is stronger than my desire to keep it if it does so happen to be from a restricted species, lol.

I understand your desire but what are you going to if you find out exactly what it is and it turns out to be illegal to possess? Turn yourself in? It does appear to have a more rounded appearance than a bear tooth but I only have younger bear teeth to compare it to. Good luck.

I work at a museum, so it would go into their collections.
    But thank you!

It looks like a bear tooth to me. I did a really big Brown bear and the teeth looked just like that

If you could give measurement it would help.

There are photos of it next to a ruler in my original post.
