It was a challenge, but I am loving this. I have three more donated birds and they will all be struts. Things I know I did wrong: drumsticks are too short, feathers were not completely dry and the bird is rumpled. Didn't get enough caulk under the right scap. Not happy with the leg colors. Otherwise I am pretty happy with it for a first effort. Anything else I need to change/work on? Thanks. Congrats on you first!
I've seen a lot worse turkeys by a lot more seasoned taxidermists.

    The tail looks great.

It does look a little rough. I blow dry the heck out of my turkeys to get all the down as fluffy as it will get. The next one you do will be better as you were able to see things to work out on your own without anyone pointing them out to you.

One thing I would do on your next turkey and what you could have done on this one before you painted the head is to inject some alcohol into the turkey's right eye ring (a little goes a long way) and reshape the eye ring so it matches the turkey's left eye and pin it in place until it dries. Do this before you paint it.
The head paint looks real nice.

Over all it's a good looking effort and you are well on your way.

    You are welcome.
I got that from the Harry Whitehead turkey mounting video from Taxidermy Training Unlimited.

I have that video but didn't get it til the heads were already painted. What kind of alcohol do you use in the eye ring?

I don't remember what kind he used. I just use rubbing alcohol from the super market. I have also used it to alter the pose of the snood also. You have to be careful doing that as it can cause the snood to go "flat". A little goes a long way.
