today i pulled my squirrels out of pickling and did a little more touching up and trying to get them fully prepared, and i noticed my fox squirrel has lost all the hair from a 2" section of the middle of the tail. i could just cut and sew it so it would be a bit shorter, but i see they sell them pretty cheap online for fly tying. has anyone ever used one of those as a replacement? it looks like theyre just dried and some have the bone still in. would they even be useable for taxidermy? if not, does anyone have any cheap fox squirrel tails for sale? i dont think it will make a huge difference to just shorten it but i figured it doesnt hurt to ask for alternatives!
