Halibut Tail?

Discussion in 'Fish Taxidermy' started by CoonRiver, Sep 1, 2019.

  1. Have a customer that just called that's up in Alaska and is thinking of having one done but I've never done one but i have been a full time taxidermist for 25 years so can pretty much handle anything. What do you usually do when doing a tail do you use the real tail or reproduction pros and cons of each? He said it's from a 110 pound halibut and he's bringing the tail back. Wondering what everyone charges for something like this?

You need to make a repro of it
As far as charging, it’ll depend on whether you can buy one of that size or can you sell the mold or cast some and sell it.
A lot of thought goes into this, materials and time. Going to be pricey
