Hi, so I was wondering how long would a dry tanned fur be able to mounted? would it be good to mount after 10 years or so? Thanks

Probably not for it’ll loose it’s elasticity.
Or after hydration it may fall apart.
Something that long is best to leave it hanging.
Now if it was in cold storage I say most definitely.

Frank, that may be true some times. I know for a fact not every time. I mounted a 1/2 bear that had been dry tanned for 15 years I was amazed at how well it stretched and held together. What it boils down to is if you are willing to risk the skin and always remember not to stress the skin as much as possible. Make the form fit the skin, that goes without saying typically but it is worth stating for this.
