Been awhile.

 

Couple new ones this week.

 

What I like most about those Mario is the hair clips and cardboard!! Exactly the way I do it!

 

They don't damage the feathers and quills and you can bend them for thickness and shape.

 

Hey, do you make those eye rings yourself? Or buy them?

Great idea! I have been using binder clips and they work but I have worried they would have to strong a spring and damage the feathers even after I reduced the tension on them.

 

I use cardboard from soda 12 packs and cut it to the size I need. Lay it under the feathers and put a hairclip at both ends. Then I preen the feathers into place, set another strip of cardboard on top and add clips all along it. I cut the top cardboard slightly narrower than the bottom so I can see if any feather moved when installing the top piece. I feel this holds the feather a lot better than tape and it's easier to remove. And they are all reusable

 

They also make larger ones that I use on my Turkeys, Swans and Sand Hill Cranes. I buy them at Walmart.

 

Finally getting a few birds done after not working on birds for 6 months due to the hot weather , fishing and waterfowl season . Mounted a pair of whiffling Ross's geese last yr that came out really nice and a buddy decided he wanted a pair of Adult Snows doing the same .... Personally I think these white geese are royal pain in the rear .. More down to fluff and keeping them clean as I work on them not to mention all the fat these rice eaters have ... Thinking about charging more for the white geese due to the extra effort they take .. This pair came out fairly nice no pin feathers on these guys for a change .... They re not positioned exactly yet but you get the idea .. ..
