Not knowing how long it has been dead, assume it is already decomposed inside. Get a glass jar with a good lid and a bottle of alcohol. You can use denatured or rubbing alcohol. If you buy rubbing alcohol, get the highest percent you can. You can cut off the head and tail and put it in the alcohol and seal the jar.. Preferably you would also get some hypodermic needles and inject alcohol into the tissues but I assume you don't have any. After the head has soaked in the alcohol for a few weeks it will be easier to cut the skull away and return the brain to the alcohol in the jar. You will not be able to preserve the brain as well as keep the skull. If the skull is more important, them macerate it as it is already in the state of decomposition.
