What’s This Duck X With

    At first glance it’s pretty easy until you look at the bill.

    That bill looks like it's part goldeneye.

    Looks more like a hen mallard. Black ducks don't have white bars on the the wings. Also, hen mallards can have very dark bills.
     
  6. Mallard xBlackduck or pen reared mallard inbred raised plenty of mallards when they inbred for a few years we would get some dark ones which the breeders would call dusky mallards

    The bill does look a lot like that of a hen Black Duck.

    we get some mallard X gw teal that look like that with blacker bills and speculem like that... how big was it?

    I don’t know. It was another taxidermists bird.

    Head feather pattern resembles a gadwall blackish bill also like gadwall. Rest looks like black duck or mallard?

    Nothing. It’s just an very old hen mallard.
