Hello all. I am new to trying to preserve shells. I killed a snapping turtle yesterday that was digging out the side of our pond wall causing issues. My daughter wants the shell, she would like the two halves to stay together. I have found ways to clean the shell out by cutting them apart but not how to keep them together. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is just a small bridge between the plastron and carapace of a snapping turtle so you should be able to access all of the inside of the shell to clean.
Here is a shell and skull from a small common snapping turtle I cleaned.
