Taxidermy Shop Of The Week

Back in 2011, forum member John C created a thread called "Shop of the week"....
    https://www.taxidermy.net/threads/267761/

...it died a couple of years later. Even though the thread is still available, many of the pictures are no longer visible on the thread. Some of us need design ideas and I personally love to see the pictures of other taxidermist's shops. I am in the process of separating my 3 car garage to "expand" my shop by creating wall space. I will add badly needed outlets and run my airline on the ceiling for drop-downs. My single garage is my shop and measures 15X25. It's small but at 60 yrs old and retired, I'm not looking for a new career. I am still in need of ideas for placement of my tables, fleshing machine, tumbler, etc. I would like to revitalize that thread and if anyone is interested, start posting those pictures! Thank You! 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg

I thought with everyone home-bound, there might be more interest in adding to this thread.
This invitation goes to everyone, no matter how small your work area is. Don't be bashful!
I started in my mother's sewing room before dad let me have a part of the garage!
Let's see some pictures of YOUR work area, be it a corner in a room or a big building.
No work area is too small!
Here's and old work area in another house I own before building my new house:

All those shop photos showed a CLEAN and organized work area / shop. I've been in A LOT of shops in the last 50 or so years and haven't seen anything that comes close to those.
I'm glad somebody is keeping all those Brazilian cleaning crews busy.

Thank you for the contributions! I love it! Keep those pictures coming, we all need good ideas on how best to organize and make the best use of space in our shops! Dave I love that antler rack on wheel - Thank You for a great idea! 13Pt you have an awesome shop, well organized and good use of space.
I am finishing up the last wall and doorway for my single-garage shop split from my 3-car garage. Next will be adding new laminate counters and a badly needed double-sink! a.jpg b.jpg Taking advantage of this semi-slow period to complete it before the seasons start.

Love your new thread....does your wire wheel have too much power...I've read not to have anything in excess of 1200rpm or stuff could get torn up. Love both your shops

This is it for me....beginner stuff...my bro in law let me set up in the corner of his counter top shop. It is my home away from difficult times in the real house.

Working on getting a wire wheel and airbrush/compressor set up. Freezer is in the break room - haa haa...little snack for the guys. This will also be defacto showroom/drying room as the main shop gets pretty dusty. Cutting my teeth here...don't laugh...haa haa

Yes that wire wheel was too powerful but that's all I had back in 2008! I now have the Van Dyke's Bird Flesher and it is perfect! 8.jpg

As long as you know where everything is when you need it! Some peple actually work better with a clustered workshop. When I had my electronics repair business it was a cluster but I knew where everything was. When I converted my four car garage to my taxidermy hobby shop I resolved to get better organized. It actually made it easier to find thing!

I believe we are all one man shows , Hell I can’t get my wife to even vacuum for me . It’s Whatever works for you , nothing wrong with a little clutter , just shows your a busy man . I’ve just learned to put things back when I’m done with it and sweep up every time I could or it would be all over my show room and shop and that drives me NUTS lol . Thanks for sharing. Your shop with us .
