Where do you store tanned capes? I just got one back from a tannery. Are they ok to put in freezer until ready to mount? I'm just starting in taxidermy.

    Yes. Fold and bag well.

Your freezer is the safest for any tanned skin, wet or dry tanned

Dry tanned capes, we store in the box they come in and they are usually fine to hydrate 6 to 9 months later. After that they tend to be get more difficult to work with. In ideal situations, you should be getting you work rotation out the door before that time anyway. Fresher is better.

Even having said that, if you have freezer space available, that is the best way to store.

Wet tanned should be stored in a freezer.
