Extinct Eastern Elk Mount?

    My father’s had this since the 1950s and it came from eastern Tennessee... it’s old and in very good condition - but we don’t know much about it! Anyone on here able to tell me more, about age and species? I can take more detailed pics if needed.     Is the back of the mount any indication of age? The style and method of work? Anyone?

    Looks like a young bull Rocky Mountain elk on a paper form. It appears to done well for being mounted in the 50's or before.

    At some point, even though I am not young, some of the really old timers that were getting into taxidermy at that time era will chime in with some better info than I have.
