Does anyone know who makes a fake lake trout head that has open gill plates you can install fake gills into? So far all ive seen are closed up. Thanks

All you need to do is attach the head, then with a hair dryer warm up the plates and open it up
Or do it before you attach the head and you can use hot water or the dryer. Be careful you don’t over do it as it’s unnatural but that’s how we do it

Ive found that works about 50% of the time on heads from mckenzie. Half the time what ever they are poured from is not a flexible material

cast your own using geltrate for the mold and bondo mixed with fiberglass resin for the head.
a hair dryer will move the gill plates on a head made this way.

Why do you want to open the gills? Lake trout are not like bass who's head is heavy and show open gills when jumping. Lake trout hardly ever jump and are netted at the boat.Caught thousands of lakers and never saw one open it's gills.JL
