Stop Rot On Hair Side

Discussion in 'Tanning' started by ElephasMaximus, Sep 7, 2020.

  1. Can it be applied to hair side of whole animal to prevent slippage before thawing & skinning? The instructions mention only hair side of unturned ears. And what's about birds?

Absolutely. Hair side and skin side, especially on "iffy" skins.

I used to talk with the inventor of it way back when. I could tell you some stories of what it was good for. ;)

I mostly used it around the eyes of deer and inside ears. It made the cartilage removal so easy. You could certainly paint the whole skin with it if you wanted. I never saw the need.
