I’m looking to start case tanning and pelt tanning and was wondering if anyone had any tips and tricks for me. I have a guide on how to properly tan a pelt, but if anyone has a good way of doing it, I’d appreciate hearing it.

You need to define what kind of tanning you are wanting to do. Tanning for taxidermy purposes, for instance, is different than tanning for soft, pliable pelts. The basic principles are the same, but methodology and processes vary. You have to define your end goal, what it is you are trying to achieve, before anyone can advise you on methods, techniques, tips etc.

Can anyone tell me the best way to unfreeze a green deer hide so it wont slip? Can I use a pickle first, then salt it?
