Both wing bones shattered at shoulder as well and a long tear in skin of left wing. Gotta love 22 hollowpoints and what they do to uplands :(. Happy with how the repair turned out though. It was a gamble that played out!

    Interesting way to hold a bird Brooke. Never thought of using a vise. Like I always tell my student, "You learn something new every day!"

    I put the beard on last. Just keeps it out of the way during the grooming and all.

    Trying to get the skills back after 40 odd years. Started out right away with a Cormorant-feather-disaster (could fill a pillow with the left-overs). Herring Gull will be in a harbour tableau with some other gulls. Juvenile Grey Herron was rather dammaged as roadkill, but turned out ok...
