Is the head removable to paint? What is the benefit to painting the head after mounted? Not criticizing, just curious. I like to learn new stuff.

Yes my heads can be removed until I get ready to set them on permanently. The benefit is getting the bird mounted first and everything situated the way you want it, then being able to paint multiple heads all together at a later date.

Makes perfect sense. I have seen famous turkey taxidermists with unpainted heads on their mounted turkeys and always wondered. Now I know. Thank you.

Juvie great horned owl. 20210228_201703.jpg fish and wildlife estimated him at 5 months old. Roadkill bird. Most pinfeathers I've ever seen.. every single head feather, under wing, back, and legs were pins.

Nice work , I agree I'd much rather use birds that are shot up as dead mounts , that's what I normally suggest when I get birds that are in bad shape ....

Tell you what after seeing her great work year after year IMO Brooke has got to be of the best taxidermist in the country ... Surely one of the busiest ... for good reason ... If I ever shoot a few of my bucket list birds Instead of doing them myself I'd probably send them to her ... Her work is always spot on ...

Awww thanks y'all. I'm really not busy, I only take in a limited number and only do Taxidermy from February through September.

I can't upload pics for some reason the last couple days. And the pics that are on here load VERY slow.
