The Month In Fish Pictures "New Year’s Edition" January/ February 2021!!!!!!!

A warm welcome and a Happy New Year from Hinsdale NH!

What a year we had in 2020! I believe no one will ever forget it one way or the another! We learned new words, we learned new normal, we learned that we truly are resilient!

Better days will come for sure!!! We will again we will see each other at shows and workshop events around the country to learn and visit with friends! Be safe my Fishheads, do what’s right for you and for others! We’ll get through this time in our lives as we endure the next chapter!

There will be better times to come once again as they will be here soon, I believe that in my heart! I have talked to so many folks in the industry and learned of stories of folks dealing with it all! The important thing is to remember that we are resourceful and filled with ingenuity! This skill gives us an opportunity to ready ourselves for the opening of the country and the world. Stay positive, keep creating and working hard and take a moment to call a friend or text someone you care about!

Over the past decade’s a wealth of contributors and many great folks who take time to share in this great tradition! We all begin somewhere and all the learning and work hard that goes into the pursuit at being is what makes us the fish artists we become

Why so we share your work!!!!! This tradition of the Month in Fish Pictures has always been a spot on the taxidermy.net where folks can and do come to show their work without criticism and hard comments! So, let’s remember to always keep it that way. As the moderator of this section I do not get too involved with censorship not do I ever want too. So be respectful of all and remember we all have a long way to go and should be enjoying the processes!

Thanks to all the friends sharing their gifts and talents! Inspiration in what we share is part of the friendliness and positive observations of fans of fish work. This is a great place to start in upward in direction of inspiration other with your work regardless of your skill level as a fish taxidermist or Fishcarver!

You’re here reading because you want to be inspired to be the best Fishhead you can be! Always be thankful for your gifts of great passion and talent as an artist! It is a blessing to me for our lives to be joined from time to time to share and learn from one another so thank you for your great taxidermy work and your lives continue to be blessed with inspiration!!!!

I want to personally say thank you for joining me each month for each installment of the Bi-Monthly in Fish Pictures to share in your successes and accomplishments! I have seen first-hand the great strides so many have made with beautiful fish work! Good for you and congratulations on your hard work!!!!

A BIG thank all the great contributors who not only share their personal great talents and work but also rather give such positive inspiration to all of us!

All levels of artists are welcome!!!! From beginners to the best in the world we all join in every month in a critique free and hassle-free string with nothing more than great artist and inspiring fish taxidermist and carves get together to share with one another their praise and inspiration of good will and friendship to one another. No egos just friendly folks who appreciate the efforts of others!

I want to start the New Year with an old friend and my very first student ever April 1991! Mr. Dave Nelson of Massachusetts. Dave competed for serval years and like a lot of us moved on to other things but never letting go of his passions! Dave spent a great week with us in Alaska for the Coho workshop. Once home he did a bit of fine tuning and tweaking for a day at Anglers Artistry. Always inspiring when someone comes back to their passion and what they love to do! Way to Dave!

Can’t wait to see your beautiful fish work this segment! See you in March 2021! Be “SAFE” and be kind to one another!

Happy New Year here is to a great 2021!!

    My Best

Trapper2016 Thanks for this awesome forum!

This has been a long time in the making. I don't do many fish but I have always wanted to try a lionfish. I bought a cheap blank off of ebay a couple years ago and it was broke into pieces when it got here. It set in a box until about 4 months ago when i started trying to salvage it. I had to rebuild it the best i could with apo lionfish 2.jpg lionfish 4.jpg lionfish 6.jpg lionfish 3.jpg lionfish 8.jpg lionfish 9.jpg xie sculpt and add a great deal to the fins. I tried my best to build his feelers/antenna with mediocre results. I really wanted to try and get his pectoral fins to look nice and get a transparent type effect to the lower parts of these fins. I could never achieve that effect even though i tried alot of color combinations. Ultimately i tried something else. It was very time consuming but i was able to dremmel out shapes for the transparent sections and then cut pieces of plexiglass to match them. Then i epoxied them in and built up the area with apoxie sculpt. Finally i got it all together but i thouht it was missing something, so i bought a cheap clownfish toy, albeit a realistic one. I cut it apart and molded it, then assembled the pieces and painted and it came out alright. I gave it to my dad for a Christmas present, albeit a late one. I can't tell you how many times i broke this thing working on it and never plan on doing a lionfish again, lol.
    Have a great new year.
