Something Interesting In The Bird Taxidermists World

    This is from the museum's bird collection. Think about it, this pied billed grebe was mounted five years BEFORE the gunfight at the o.k. corral with Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. Mounted in 1874 it has not lost one feather and the feet and legs have no age or bug related damage .     Indeed in excellent shape for its age. Just one remark: the label is wrong, it is an eared grebe (Podiceps nigricollis), not a pied-billed grebe

    that is an old leather label from the 1920's i agree it looks like an eared grebe
