Oily Fur Help

Discussion in 'Tanning' started by RoadsideResurrection, Jan 13, 2021 at 4:07 PM.

  1. Does anyone know if there's a way to remove the oil out of the fur of a tanned hide? I use EZ-100 and the hides have bee drying for a week now after being oiled and the fur is so oily and sticky. My hands are covered in oil after I touch them. I tried dawn but that didn't remove it

I used , if I remember correctly, about a half cup of degreaser from one of the suppliers and poured it into saw dust and tumbled them and it did the trick.

Not a cup of degreaser please not that but use mineral sprits in a large garbage bag with sawdust in it. That’ll remove the oils but be a bit cleaner next time and you won’t have such a oily mess on your hands
