Critique On Rainbow Trout Paintjob

    Hello, I am new to taxidermy (started in January of this year). I am looking for critique on the paintjob of my first rainbow trout. The fish was mounted by my mentor, Joe House, but I painted it. Looking for critique on the paintjob quality I have done on the fish. Thanks!     I won't critique your paint job as having never done fish, I am not qualified. I will however, tell you that I admire your drive and you willingness to be critiqued when you know that sometimes it can seem harsh. You are well on your way.

    May I suggest purchasing DVDs from Research Mannikins, Taxidermy Training Unlimited, Matuska and McKenzie. They will help you for when you are on your own. It is an investment in your training that will pay dividends.

    It’s my same reply here as I stated with your musky. Your mentor is leading you down the wrong path on doing fish taxidermy.

    IMO it looks over painted. The colors may be correct but they need to be more suttel and blend in together more.Start very light you can always add more to it

    It's better than your Musky.. But again keep at it, get some of Rick Krane DVD's they will help you a lot!!
