I have an issue I have never seen before. A client brought me 2 Bears that were dry tanned by Wildlife Gallery and they are about 1 year old based on his tags. He wants life-size mounts now and The issue is when soaked, the hides themselves are great but the paw pads never soften and actually are hard as rocks and all curled up. My question is, Is there a way to soften the pads to get them to uncurl and form out correctly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Regards

Call WLG and ask , but I’d put all paws in a slight salt brine for an hour or so , then bag them in a warm room till soft

thank you for the reply. That is exactly what I have done, but the pads are still the same. I will call the WLG tomorrow when they open to possibly get another idea. Again thank you

Remove the pads. Purchase the artificial ones (I believe they still sell them) or rebuild them up and texture with Apoxie Sculpt.
