    One of the hardest parts of a standing mount is balance. That wood duck is spot on. Great job as usual.

    Awards are great if that's your thing , some folks just don't care for the contest BS ... After I watched a judging at the world's show yrs ago .. I'd never bother .. To technical ... Who cares if you can see a feather out a place with a mirror on a stick under the belly .. Stupid IMO ....
    There are a few great Taxidermist that aren't into contests that are as good of not better than those that are in the limelight ... Guys like WingMan and Stuffinducks are both world class taxidermist and to my knowledge aren't into the contests .... I think Brooke has joined these guys in those elite taxidermist that I really look forward to and enjoy seeing their work every time they post .....
    I'd be giving props to whomever did work like she produces day in day out ... what can I say ... I Like great waterfowl taxidermy ...

    I don't know about being in that group, but thanks. I'll definitely still attend shows, cause I still believe there's no cheaper way to gain knowledge from 30+ Taxidermists at a time. I always learn something every show. But as far as competition goes, I'll take a customer mount and get it critiqued instead if spending time on a specific piece that I make zero money on and take time away from paying customer mounts. As I skin em in January/February I look for nice specimens, then I'll ask the client if I can use thier bird for Comp. Haven't had one turn me down yet. They get a mount with a little more detail, and I don't lose money and wind up with another bird mount I can't do anything with.

    your right Brook ...I have a ton of blue and purple ribbon winners that I cant, or dont want to sell....competitions are just too political
