Think you did a great on the mount , love the attitude and flow of it , just not a fan of those elongated forms , JMO , awesome job tho. Is that a blind eye ?

Appreciate it. Yeah I’m not really a fan for anything other than the axis. Client wanted it. So to extent I did what he wanted. Yes it’s a blind eye. I took a blank and made this one as client had photos of the eye and it looked like a parasite had eaten it. And not just a payer blind eye. Was fairly pleased with the outcome

So fellows this is my contribution to game head of the month . Mind you I have not mounted a deer head for over 6 years . An 6.5 year old brute . On an OTS pedestal. Critiques welcome . I feel it’s not bad for a 6 year hiatus.

  12. Many different European mounts to add. (I hope there is a category for my genre)

    Some of my 2020 work

    I attached a 759lb wild boar head.

What a challenging project getting the grease out of this old boar!

20210415_022404878_iOS.jpg 20210415_025825337_iOS.jpg The buck in the first picture was pretty beat up. Actually bad year for bucks being beat up. Done with deer for the year. Hobby for me.

Doing good clean work is foremost. You've done that. But the presentation is quite un-good, (I'm deliberately dodging other possible adjectives) especially with an extreme lopsided angle to a magnificent set of antlers. The extended body behind the shoulder blade is a superfluous distraction and I suspect the neck is too long. Presuming you were trying to depict a particular activity, as a viewer I can't guess what that might be. To me it's ambiguous and without a title to the piece the viewer is clueless as to what we are supposed to be seeing.
Presuming again that this pose is possible in nature on a live deer. it doesn't work (or please when viewed) in a static work which is what a mounted deer head is.
Remember, truth and beauty are the two main elements that continue to please the viewer. Is it true to nature and what exactly is beautiful about this interpretation that makes one think of a live deer rather than just another mounted deer head?
