So last year I ask who or where I could get this bobcat form, as I had a client that wanted his cat mounted this way , all’s I had was a pic of this awesome mount , then I was told it was a 1 off mounted by Wa. So I called my client and told him what I had found out and he ask if I could do something close . After telling him it would cost more as I had to alter another form to do that he said that fine . So I’m hoping I can only do this thing a 1/3 of how good Wa did it . Ill keep this post updated as I get it mounted and finished, as of now , I got the form cut it in a bunch of pcs as I also had to make it a little smaller , I then began to put it back together , the form is altered and ready to mount on , I have left the feet off for now . I have a lite sanding of the clay shay and I’ll be mounting him up . First pic is of Wa’s awesome mount and what I’m trying to get close to . What ya think so far .

the front leg looks very stiff not a relaxed look at all. the face will not work either. look at live animals not someone else's even if they are nice, when you look at a live animal it will put the very best to shame, the skin is also a very big consideration, a bland rabbit cat won't look as good as a really spotted out cat just my two cents worth , bobcats are a difficult one to pull off ,good luck

I've had similar requests, customer shows up pictures of WA's cats or Codi's and says they want them exactly like that. My response is to either look them up or be a little flexible. I'll do the best I can. I don't get many around my area so it is hard to get consistent practice on them.

I’m with ya ,I always use live references pics , I do believe the stiffness your referring to is because the rest of the leg or should I say paw is not on the form which Intern will give it that more natural look . I’m hoping lol

Great job on the manikin alteration. I think the left front leg looks a bit stiff because it’s hanging too far toward the rear of the cat’s body? It drops straight down, almost like his paw weighs ten pounds. Maybe if it “flexes” forward just a bit?

I see that now , thanks . I’m thinking his elbow might need to be a little up and more defined . I appreciate the advise from all . Thanks again , I’m going to fix And post again .

looks great, id maybe shift that hanging front shoulder a bit further back. but honestly it'll look fine once it's got skin on and a good fluffing. That is probably the most common "ref" pic clients bring in, that or WAs sitting one. I'm so slow at small life-size I stopped taking them in,. . . unless it's someone that shoots a bobcat over my dogs, then it's kinda hard to say no lol.

Glen, as you well know, cats have plenty of loose skin. With that said, the belly/chest area should reflect some weight on the wood limb rather than sitting stiff where they touch. IMO, I would remove some of the belly on the form to fit the wood limb. This alteration will allow some sag in that area once the skin is in place, to show weight bearing areas on the mount. Didn’t want to be exact, as different cats and taxidermist, not to bad for just mounting , will tweak as I go , see anything I need to put some attention to . Ears giving me a fit , lol . I’ll post finished mount in few weeks . Thanks for following along . 522C285E-D563-4419-8733-53360581B0D3.jpeg B65055FF-2B51-4CE5-BC38-5E88D151F477.jpeg

Here's what I see at a glance that doesn't sit with me, first move those eras up a tad, second, make the whisker lines match better from side to side and third the pupils look to can't out at the top not in. The rest is looking pretty good.

What 3Bears said. Also, need to address the ears being nonsymmetrical. I'm not talking about just being pointed in different directions (live animals rarely have both ears pointing the same way for very long). The right ear (on my right side) appears to be riding lower on the head than the left. I would also look at your lower lip. Is it tucked in all the way? There appears to be some lip showing (hard to tell in the photo) and once the inevitable shrinkage sets in, you may end up with gap-osis.

Other than that (and some final grooming), looks good. I'm going to be doing a coyote here in a few weeks and I'd appreciate the same honest evaluation and constructive criticism!!!
