I used latex caulk as hide paste and bondo for the ears. I agree 100% about the easy set faces being harder on the drying. I could pin the mouth but not the eyes which sucks. I will probably use conventional heads from here on out. Can I rehydrate the ear bases with latex caulk as the hide paste? The ear buds are blended in with critter clay. Tazzymoto has the right idea with the mount tilted back. Im sure gravity while drying sagged the ear down.

Ok I’m going to try and explain something I do when sewing up , I’m sure some do it but I don’t see to many . So when I sew my Y up once I get the one side sewed up I use a longer needle to push the tail end of the thread out the forehead as far as I can and cut the needle off leaving the extra hang out . Then I sew the other side up going just passed where the Y comes
Together, I then grab the tail end in the forehead and pull it , which in turn pulls the tie off not down and under the skin/hair and other stitches. I sew rest of head up and after I do a few locking stitches I put the needle beside the last stitch and push it in bringing it out the side as far as i can and pull it hard which in turn buried the last stitches and tie off knot . Now I push the hide paste I have under the hide back thru the stitches and cut the tail off . The 4-6 inches of tread gets in the hide paste and helps keep ur stitches tight DB141EF4-270B-4F21-9CEB-45174CA18B6C.jpeg DB56A1B1-F64E-40FD-90FC-EA600A409F10.jpeg 2087AAD9-6023-433A-8897-D6ADA86BB121.jpeg 79CC4347-35F7-4005-A4F5-1FC1B900EFB9.jpeg 16515F8A-B505-4709-8FF6-ED8840703F52.jpeg FFA57C66-5A11-4103-8A6F-54290B2BDDE0.jpeg B4052A64-9DA4-48A6-BE06-2E1357EA938F.jpeg 8F557599-2396-48B2-B6D2-C551825A431D.jpeg 5C85E500-DAFE-4A08-832F-952C6EF88F85.jpeg

Glen, don't you love our Eastern Shore skinny muzzle Whitetails! Nice clean mount Glen! It's hard to understand why so many taxidermists sell themselves short on mounting prices. We are right in line with what we charge
