Removing Fish Smell From Fish

    is there a commercial product that I could buy at Walmart, menards etc that would remove the fish smell? ive got a bowfin that im gonna attempt to mount.................I tried to taxidermy a few fish about 30 years ago.....and they had a fishy odor to them.....would sincerely appreciate any tips on what I could use.

    If your fish is whole and in the raw, it's going to smell like a fish! Proper skin cleaning and preservation will eliminate any smell if done properly

    X-2! Once you make sure it is completely and thoroughly fleshed, a good bath in dawn dish soap before you move to the preservation or tanning process will do the trick. But if it’s not completely fleshed, it’s likely to smell no matter what else you do.
