Studio Or Shop

    Just wondering if you consider where you work a studio or a shop? The difference between studio and shop . Studio is a synonym of shop . As nouns the difference between studio and a shop is that studio is an artist's or photographer's workshop or the room in which an artist works while a shop is an establishment that sells goods and services to the public. I don't know about anybody else but I consider myself an artist so I work out of a studio.

    Shop - I'm just a hobbyist. If I were commercial I would use studio because it sounds more professional.

    Studios are for hair stylists and arteests.
    I guess if you have a separate neat play to display your work that would be a studio? Where you work I would still consider a shop. If it makes you feel better call it what you like. There are some very professional taxidermy studios out there.

    I would say shop. When my male clients ask me where my shop is, I give them my home address. When they arrive, I open my garage door.
    My lady clients usually say "studio".

    The one day a year when it's cleaned up, it's a studio...the other 364 days it's a shop!

    As stated a studio would be where you would display nothing but finish pcs , art and resale items , a shop is where you except raw materials, critters and actually do the work and get your hands dirty . I have a shop with a showroom . This thread is like what do you have clients or customers , I have clients as I have 80% returning and 20% New clients each year.

    I have a studio in my shop. I also have a studio apartment attached that was once my workout room and is now my grandson's house along with his wife and our great grand daughter. Full kitchin and bath.

    I have always thought that the word studio was for people who paint with a brush on canvas or wood. Shop sounds better to me used for the working Taxidermist. Just my humble opinion.

    By definition, "studio" is the place where an artist performs his or her work, the place where it is displayed is the gallery you boneheads - ha!....

    Before I retired (yeah I like to rub that in - ha!), I always called it my "shop" simply by choice. Call it what you wish! To me, as a taxidermist I always thought the use of the word "studio" was a bit pretentious even though there can be tons of artistic ability utilized during the creative process of taxidermy. JMO...

    Yep that’s why we have shops.
    My shop has a studio, it has a sink and a toilet. I do some of my most satisfying work there.

    My studio in my shop is where I made turkey wing bone calls.
