i have been watching a bunch of pheasant mounting Youtube vids and have seen alot of different ways to do things. i have a question about the head. i have seen people cut the "face" completely off the skull and others pull the skin back to just in front of the eyes, leaving the "face" attached then cleaning the skull off/out and moving on from there. Which method is best to use? Thanks for any help

It would be the method you are most comfortable with. Try them all and go with the one you like. There is no "one size fits all" best method

I use the real skull on pheasants. Make an incision in the throat area, invert the skull, clean, borax heavy, apply modeling clay, re-invert and sew the incision. Repro skulls are OK. but I don't use them on upland game birds.
