Rinehart Vs. Wegners Taxidermy School

Discussion in 'Training' started by ArtemisOdd, Jan 28, 2022.

  1. Hi all! I'm in need of some advice I'm considering taking courses at either the David Rinehart Taxidermy School or the Wegerns Taxidermy school. Does any one have any recommendations/experience or opinions about either one? One is significantly more expensive than the other and I want to make the right choice. Thanks!

What are you looking to ultimately accomplish with taxidermy? What is your current level of experience with taxidermy? How much raw, artistic talent did God give you? How much time and money can you afford to burn in order to reach your goals? Without knowing more about you, We can’t give you advice.

If your looking to do something to make a decent living and are just starting out I’d say pick something else. Supply and material prices are crazy high and are going up all the time.

  5. Agree with Mudbat - UNLESS - you are married to someone who is the primary money earner that can support both of you and your family, including health insurance, long term savings, retirement, etc. In that case, taxidermy can be a very rewarding hobby that can provide some supplemental income.

Yinz sound like a mother hen trying to talk her kid into college.
They only asked if anyone had an opinion on the schools. Way to harsh someones buzz:cool:

  7. Good point, guilty as charged. Artemis, if taxidermy is your passion, go for it. That was me 35 years ago - went to Vic Birontas' school and learned a ton, nobody could have dissuaded me, and I have no regrets. Sorry I don't have any info about the schools you mentioned.

Vic Birontas, haven’t heard that name in decades. I remember him. He was one of the good guys.

I remember that name. I think he had a freeze dry and conventional school of taxidermy. Wasn't it in Minnesota?
