did not know where else to post this , so here goes. we all know usps is unreliable to ship perishable hides etc.. fedex just ran me out and said never come back. so down to ups. everyone that I got your check your packages are going ups, no longer fedex. the problem is ups is double the cost of fedex. bottom line is I will have to raise shipping costs again. they are to the point that cheap items cost more to ship than their worth. what to do? I guess try usps flat rate again and keep fingers crossed. if anyone has ANY REMEDY i AM LL EARS. i TOOK A HECK OF A BEATING ON SHIPPING COSTS TODAY, ABOUT DOUBLE WHAT i CHARGED IN SOME CASES.

Hello Bob, I would definitely avoid the post office. I recently bought a black coyote that was shipped USPS 2 day select. I received it 5 days later thawed out and warm. Just raise your prices on shipping. People will still buy your furs.

  3. Bob, maybe this would help....do you have a shipping account? Like SendPro? It costs like $5 month for just the USPS account, but if you do the full version, which is like $15 a month, you get USPS, UPS, and FEDEX. Seems like a lot if you have months where you dont ship much, but the savings thru the program is anywhere from 15% to 50% on each package. I was quoted $132 on a box from a satellite store, so I tried the SendPro program and it was like $65. I also sent out some packages that was half the cost. The savings I've had in a couple months have literally paid for the rest of the year on SendPro! You do need a scale to weigh out the packages, and you need the dimensions, then plug in the numbers as the program walks you thru each step. You pick how fast you want it to get there, any insurance, etc. When all is done, it gives you a shipping label to print, just tape it good to your box and take it to the respective carrier. I just get a receipt from the carrier when I drop it off. It's a lot easier than having sticker shock at the mail carrier office, as well as other issues you may have there. And you can pay online. So far I have had real good luck doing this, but I do plan on an extra shipping day just in case because they are still backed up a bit. Just my two cents ....

USPS added a day to their first class time frame, but it is working out to at least an extra day for “priority” mail as well. FedEx will boot a frozen shipment off the plane, if they have to reduce weight, unless it was sent “overnight”. That means 2nd day air is no longer reliable for frozen goods, as told to me by Fedex agent. Maybe UPS will have a better approach… but prolly not.
