I think it would benefit this site to move all political talk into one category and keep current events to be anything except political talk. Some will say just don't click on political subjects in current events, but you can still read the topics and I believe it keeps people from coming there. I think it would increase members coming back if the politics was regulated to one category.

It will be the death of Current Events and then the political category would come under fire for the same reasons The Current Events has come under fire.
Then Current Events will have 2 or 3 posts a week and we will hear complaints about The Political category taking up space on the Latest Replies list.

Having said that, I voted yes.

I voted no. The problem I see arising for example is a post about economics. Might not be political to some people but to others it will. Then we will have an argument about how politics isn’t allowed in that section. Show some self restraint and don’t open posts you don’t want to read. It’s that simple.

Yep just talking bout taxidermy supply’s can go to the political side very fast as it’s petroleum based materials and we all know what happened there. Let’s go Brandon lol

Really the current event section IS nothing but a political section. The same members constantly arguing the same subjects over and over, nobody's mind ever changes and nothing comes of it, other than sour feelings towards each other. The first page right now is all politics except for Livbucks turkey thread . The same people that constantly argue politics ever post there.
This new category would be for subjects like Livbucks turkey thread, or like the one i started about trucks, and would relegate the people that are only here to argue politics, and don't even do taxidermy to one category that could be easily avoided.
Yes, I would volunteer to help moderate it if need be.

I’m guilty of joining in on the political post as they sometimes piss me of with the stupid beliefs and comments. That said I blocked those fools so I don’t see it and have not viewed the political post as much . I do believe there are some as stated that have nothing to do with taxidermy and never post anything that has anything to do with taxidermy and in my opinion shouldn’t even be on here they are nothing but TROLLS and are only here to start shit , they are the ones I have BLOCKED . But as stated if you don’t like just don’t open it as nothing is going to change it unfortunately. Good post to see where all stands tho , as I stated before it don’t matter what a post is about it can and will go political with the some of fools we have on here

The trouble with having a political section separate that the current events is two-fold.

The first is that two people in current events live in an alternate universe where they fail to see reality and chalk everything up to one person who was past president. They obviously believe in unicorns because there is no way we can survive without fossil fuels and Brandon has made war against it. He and his party have hamstrung the US and all of his policies have led to inflation, lazy people, immigrant and crime problems, a new war, more food stamps, and hundreds of other major problems. Their failure to see reality has led to dozens of people leaving current events - they thrive on pissing people off. People usually like to talk with others who share the same viewpoint. If you went to a bar and 50 people just wanted to complain about life - the difficulties in business, problems with customers, discuss how to save money in life, etc. and then two guys would talk about what an idiot you were and told you to go kill yourself, you would either have a bar fight, or quit coming to the bar. Taxidermists have just quit coming to the bar which is why I started the thread the Death of Current Events.

The second reason is that almost everything comes down to politics. Personal freedom to hunt and own guns are threatened by politics. Having views other than the woke crowd with get you banished for social sites. Regulations on virtually every aspect of your life is controlled by politics. As long as you aren't hurting people you should be able to have your own views on things, but one party wants to control every aspect of your life. They squelch news items that make them look bad even though they then lie about the other party. Politics on the two coasts make regulations that flyover country has to live with, and they are two totally different situations. Allowing regulations in California to be mandated in every other state is just plain foolish. Rural people live a different way than big city people and unfortunately big cities and their politicians try to control the rest of the US. I don't know why the democrats have gone so left but I don't see much difference in republican parties of 40 years ago and what they are today.

Oh, and if By Golly hasn't seen this thread. Obviously, someone should type in "Trump lost, he is a loser', even though Biden lost three times before he won the presidency.

Omit any posts in the current events section from the latest replies on the home page. Solved. My opinion anyway. I think I will make a concerted effort to dream up non political threads. Trouble is the threads will die pretty quickly. Let us see.

  13. I always click ( recent activity) or ( new post) , for the last few years it's 90% or more political post. Taxidermy post are few and far between. If it wasn't for the for sale post , Taxidermy related post would be all but non-existent.
That and that alone is what pushed me away from here. I return ever so often simply because I made some dam good friends here. Wether they claim me or not.:( I wanna stay in touch. One can't go long with some Ron B & liver bucks in their life. :D:D
Point being , I JOINED A TAXIDERMY SITE. Not a political site. Let's not even get into the how dam dumb or in correct {half} < < I'm being nice.< of the political post actually are. At least the do or don't does bigfoot exists are entertaining.
I have watched the decline of Taxidermy post happen, if the bleeding isn't stopped. At some point there isn't going to be a taxinet, period. With only Three or four people listed as on line here, at any given time now, it's about bleed out . Here's a political topic to cure (TNM) Taxi Net Matters.

Well Ken Edwards voted to keep it the way it is now, so I don't think we are getting a political category haha.

I dont care either way so Im not voting. I kinda like the back and forth as long as it stays lighthearted and not personal. I come here for fun not to fight. Nothing said here is going to solve what we have going on in the world.

I come on here for the Current Events and while I'm here I will check out the Bird section, a quick look at Game Head section, maybe the Mammal section if there is anything new, a quickie in the mostly dead Tanning section and once in a while the Industry area. Since most of those topics are dead, with Brooke keeping the Bird section going and 13 point keeping the game head section going, they are worth a look see. The beginners section is is good for a quick look. The other categories rarely interest me, so I don't go there. It takes me about 10 minutes on average to get that done and comment on them. I think that The Current Events section of the the mostly dead Taxidermy.Net is hardly the sole reason or even a top five reason that this site is mostly dead. I would like to see those who are complaining about The current Events post several interesting threads and comments on everyone of the categories of Taxidermy.Net everyday. That would maybe make a difference, but blaming a single category for this sites downward spiral is akin to blaming Trump for everything bad in life.

Okay here's mine: I usually wait to comment on these type threads because once I comment there is nothing else to be said! ;)

I would assume that the advertisement dollars for a site like this is in accordance with the number of clicks per day on average. It is pretty obvious which section is getting the clicks. So if one is concerned with the death of the site, doing away with current events would be its final blow!

As far as being controversial or argumentative ...this site is now filled with pacifist, nuns, vessel virgins, and fairies compared to 15 years ago. I think you guys have all had saltpeter slipped into your food to calm you down! Ken can do away with the "three strikes your out" warning! This bunch is not even capable of swinging the bat much less getting a strike. Seriously...when was the last time you saw a moderator on here? I don't know if there even is one any more! Even I used to get warnings and I was the nicest asshole on here!

The current events page rolls over every few days or so...some of the others wont roll over for months. Just the way it is. If you are offended by something, or someone don't read their shit! There is one or two on here that I just skip over because they suck at what they are trying to do. Only people who's IQ's are in the double digits are interesting to me and keeping me entertained is what this site is about so I just ignore the Biden voter! But I have never, nor would I ever call for them to be banned...except maybe from voting!

As far as taxidermy, there is so much more out there now than there was in the past, on YouTube, Facebook etc.! That's hard to compete with nowadays, with videos and instant interaction, so if this site is to survive there needs to be something extra to keep up the clicks! At least that's my ABHO. (anything but humble opinion):)
