    Dang
Theses rates are going thru the roof
Called for rates on a 132” sturgeon
    $700 !!!
I’m tempted to drive out and get it myself
But I’m not going to eat these costs
Customer wants it he will have to pay it

I took it in the ass when miss quoting the shipping on two sturgeon a 67 and 49. End costing me over 450 from what I quoted the customer.

What does the blank cost? LCR has one for $1250?

    132 x $35 = $4620 - 2k in expenses (blank + shipping) = $2600 on the table for a fish that only has scutes/ganoids.

So long as the customer is picking it up when finished, I like the profit here.

But, yeah, shipping is getting expensive and if the customer will pay for it, all the better.

I think I'd just suck it up for the end game. Not a hard paint job as they go.

But the money on the table wasn't too bad, what was it $25 an inch.

I guess she could turn it down if it's not profitable.

No she took took on the job for 3 grand. It’s a coast to coast blank so there is quite a bit of work involved before paint. It will be a learning experience for her for sure.

Is it that expensive for shipping if they cut the blank in 1/3 or 1/2? I think it would be pretty easy to patch them together if cut....similar to what they do with LS big game? It certainly seems like shipping would be a bit cheaper?

Just ordered 3 bottles of Polytranspar 4 oz. from a well known supplier. Also one can of $15.30 sealer. Water based paint. Laquer sealer. Price before shipping $42.00 and change. By the time it reached my home with shipping $106.00 and change. Time to take those paints and start experimenting with gloss sealers and topcoats from Home Depot.

We’ve all gotta be careful when quoting now with erratic prices. Customers want a firm price. They are unsympathetic about paying additional shipping when they pay no shipping on Amazon.Prime or eBay. I send someone to my supplier once or twice annually. Each trip saves me a couple of thousand in shipping charges. Additionally, the mileage and meals are tax deductible.

What’s really interesting is if you order anything off Amazon prime it’s free shipping. I just ordered a 4’x150’ roll of chicken wire and it was free shipping. No one had it locally plus it was cheaper than anyplace locally.

Ups racks the rates up like double now in 3 years for Amazon to get there shipping deal
Nothing is free , just continue to watch these kinda posts and scratch your head
    Thank Jeff Bezos

I do get FREE shipping from Amazon. I don't have to drive into town (save on gas money) ..... AND I usually get my items CHEAPER than from the stores. And I get it next day or 2 days.

So, yes ...... FREE shipping. And cheaper than going to the store and buying it. FACTOID!

    LOL

Yes, sometimes it really is free. I purchased this new band saw for $100 less than the big box hardware store and it was shipped FREE. It came on a pallet delivered by a freight company and forklifted the pallet to my shop floor.

Maybe so but when I check on prices at say Home Depot and I can get it cheaper delivered to my door it’s still a savings.

LOL, get a clue (simple math)

I just ordered 6 containers (1.25 gallons) of Roundup. In town it cost me:
    Wal Mart - almost $16/container
    Home Depot - almost $17/container
    AMAZON - less than $15/container
    FREE SHIPPING

As a business man I would expect you to know simple math.

And I don't have to drive (gas expense) and buy it. It is delivered to my door ... FREE SHIPPING.

    LMAO

    :)

I love idiots , they are entertaining
You don’t get it , it’s way over your heads
I really don’t give a crap what you get shipped for free it’s not free.
Ups fed ex all the shipping companies have pennies on the dollar contracts with Amazon and other online stores so the vendor can eat the shipping But ups and fed ex has a plan for you ….
Bitch about what it costs you to ship anything YOU want to ship or shipping costs from vendors that don’t have huge contracts like Amazon and have to pay ups and fed ex to ship something you want
Ups and fed ex both have raised shipping costs x2 what they should be for you to send your grandmother a birthday present or if you by a taxidermy form from a supplier
Keep on thinking your getting free shipping then you ship someone or buy not Amazon and they make all the money they are making it up on losers that think there getting free shipping somewhere
You got your roundup with free shipping but your last box of taxidermy supplies you bought costs you twice what is should thank you Jeff Bezos/ UPS/ and Fed ex maybe you could send out free Ky to everyone you have convinced is getting free shipping from AMAZON
Ups and Fed ex have the biggest Ponzi scheme going on in this country has ever seen , make a deal with Bezos and his retailers then slam x2 the shipping charges to everyone else to make up the loss , but remember they tell you it’s free shipping
ROFLMAO , you guys are precious
