Australian Murray River Short Neck Turtle

    Hi , just a few pics of the Australian Murray River short neck turtle I did a few weeks ago, something I really enjoyed working on.     Looks very very nice Creep, good job. I see you have a lot of patience. Nice pics, too.
    Did you put the skin over the cast form? Or is it the real skin?
    Why do they call it a short neck? Looks normal to me.

    G'day penzac, the short neck turtle is regarded as pretty short cause our long neck or snake neck species are up to 13 inches long in the neck!
    Yup carved anatomy in white Styrofoam with wire set in for strength and a little smoothing clay to soften the anatomy. I tanned the skin its all real, and ran an aluminium tent frame dowle and a locator pin system to suspend it from the driftwood , the body after cleaning and treating is filled with 2 pary foam ,eyes are custom made from Belarus taxidermy.by

    Someone had a sea turtle reproduction at the World Taxidermy show in Springfield Mo a couple years ago.
