Chinook Scale Tipping

    Any pro advice for a rookie scale tipping a chinook repro that has minimal (if any) scale definition? Do's and Dont's?

    All depends on what color phase your going to paint it,
    Then get some really good reference pictures

    It's a very bright July chinook from Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. My concern is more about the actual process of painting the scales that don't really exist on most of the fish. I'm sure most experienced painters don't have an issue recreating the scale pattern, but this is my first chinook. Thanks.

    I would advise buying 1 or 2 of Rick Krane's videos. The videos are relatively cheap and you won't be disappointed!

    Yes, Rick's videos are very informative. I was just curious how others handled scale-tipping a chinook.

    You can draw them back on then using aluminum foil powder tip them in , frank k shows this on here somewhere I think on a tarpon

    It's more or less figuring out the size and row pattern of the missing scales....if that's what you are asking? There are a variety and size of brushes or other applicators that you can use to get the desired size.

    I use a old worn out detail brush
    The bristles are less than 1/32
