Finally got my moose after years of looking. 56 inches between the two windows and it extends across both frames. Need to raise it higher as the tips are about a foot from the ceiling. I need a bigger house. No, did not shoot it, an auction find. More appreciation for these animals even more. Each antler weighs a good 30 pounds. Skull itself is pretty heavy. If the antlers had not been detached, I would not even be able to lift this. And those moose prance around like it is nothing.

The bracket mount is a nice way to go on that one. Definitely raise it up if you can. It's great to look those guys in the eyes!

I got mine a while back. It was actually a winter kill/find. Also pretty huge. Not sure of the measurements. My favorite part are the little chew marks visible on the top tines that were exposed above the snow. I know that is definitely not for everyone, but my favorite part of a skull is the story behind it and that says so much.

I'll try to snap some pictures if I can remember.

glad you got your moose Seawolf. I wasn't able to find anything up here that was reasonably priced.

LOL. Not sure $1400 was reasonable but the antlers had been cut off and fitted with steel square stock to replace them. I would not have been happy about crating this and shipping. And, without those antlers coming off, I never would have gotten this up on the wall. Will make it handy to pack up if I ever sell the house and move too. I was willing to pay the price for the convenience.

The best selling feature with that one, is you can interchange moose, elk, longhorn, Bison....

Cool auction find!!! One of my first commercial taxidermy jobs was to take the antlers off an ancient moose head and mount them on a plaque. I learned soon I had bit off more than I could chew! Those things are heavy, heavy, heavy! Thanks for sharing!
