    Here's a red fox I did 3 or 4 years ago.
My uncle was trapping coyotes that winter and had a couple of incidental fox catches.
I couldn't stand to see them sold at market for 10 bucks a piece so I gave him $20 for the pair and did a practice pedestal mount with one and a full mount with the nicer of the two.
It was my first full body mount. For my 4th projecting, I was in over my head for certain, but very determined. It probably took me over 15 hours just to mount it. Let alone all the time prepping the hide, form and base.
Brian Hendricks form, using his videos as my main guide throughout the mount.
Can't believe the hair didn't all slip when I think long I took skinning and fleshing.

I struggled with setting the ears, (obviously I should have spent 16 hours mounting it.) I've learned a lot from it, this forum and other mounts since.

The white base suggests a winter scene, but I don't really like the idea of fake snow. This is easy to clean and doesn't flake off when you touch it.

    Allie, Ted,

Sometimes you get lucky on the driftwood. The base is literally just 2 layers of 1/2 or 5/8" plywood .
The top was sculpted with some shaped edges to emulate a snow drift.
The raw plywood edges were filled with Bondo and sanded smooth. After sealing, the lower base was spray painted flat black and the other had flat, white acrylic house paint rolled on to add a bit of pebbled texture.
I liked the suggestion of habitat.
