I like those lock pins also on that stand. Nothing more exciting than when you are pushing/pulling/taxying a mount and the thing pivots down on you!!!

I have a fish waiting for paint. Waiting on forms and stuff from McKenzie to get on heads again.

Picked up some hides from the tannery.
Including this one he wants mounted for his shop.
Kind of excited for this challenge.
He did not have horns for it, but I have this old skull that was really weathered so I cleaned up the horns and restored them a bit.
I think I might still touch up the bases some, they don't quite have the right look.

It won't be on my new mounting stand for a while, but I had if on the work table to measure today. So it counts.

Any recommendation on how to get the Fix it Sculpt to look more like a the original ivory tips? I painted last night and am happy with everything but the tips of the tine. I am looking to get that polished look. Thanks in advance for any help.

Just as you said polish it. I lay down my base color which is to match the tips then seal it down and then color to match the rest and blend including the tip I then use a rag and remove the color from the tip to get it to look as close as I can. I find some times I have to go back after it is dry with super fine steel wool and blend it better.

13point, is that green machine in the background of the Sika deer, your blower?
Was looking at some options online the other day. I know you get what you pay for, but there's a big range in price.

  18. Thanks for your input! Appreciated. Used the steel wool last night and it is better. Still not to my liking but also realize I will not get it exactly like the real antlers.
