Just threw a canvasback away that was very pinfeathered. Sometimes it's the best move. Cans are very hard to get prime.

The goose dead mount went out the door this last week end. Customer was very happy with it and we discussed the pinfeather issues and he agreed it was the best plan for that bird. I explained to him your first or a new duck spieces that you kill doesn't make it a mountable bird.

Today we have a shot up pinfeathered bull can that was in another taxidermists freezer for 5 years before he up and closed shop and moved. The customer tracked him down and got it from him and brought it in to me. PXL_20230127_202006023.PORTRAIT.jpg

Finally slowed down at work and got around to doing a few birds. Hopefully get a few more done this weekend. The hen oldsquaw was not up to par and will be added at a later date. This one will be a test run for a water scene before tackling my St Paul birds. 20230125_182432.jpg 20230127_171040.jpg

These would be better to be placed in the game head section instead of the bird section.

I believe I did 12 gauge in the neck. 14 gauge in the wrist area and zip tied to the ulna. 10 gauge from inside the ulna into the body.

Might be 10 in the neck I can’t remember, but its head was pretty heavy so I went big on the neck wire.
