Almost finished my 2nd deer hide, a nice fallow buck that I shot back in Novemeber. I've been using a snowdonia tanning kit which I've not tried before. Used a jet wash to flesh as well which seemed to work well. Just in the process if stretching/ sanding and then can trim and it should be ready to go on the floor

I've now trimmed this as much as I would like. I've sanded the back quote a bit and stretched but just wondered what are the recommendations for making softer/more supple so it rests on the floor properly?

If it wasn’t properly thinned, oiled and broken it won’t. You may have a lot of different thickness in your skin and hearing it’s not pliable says it wasn’t broken well . That’s my thought.

Thanks for the reply, it is soft and fully white as opposed to the blue of the tan, which only happened when I stretched it. This morning I've been running the edge of a bit of metal pipe across part of it which seems to be making it more "rug" like. I'll keep doing that and see whT happens

    Thank you again

Still need to oil when I have the time but I'm happy with it so far and it looks good in the lounge
