So I ran the wire through the form, made a U on the other end and secured to the body. I ran my wire through the drift wood but I had to leave about 6 inches of exposed wire from the driftwood to the form. Are their any tricks to hiding that wire? The duck seems to look the best when the wire is out that far. If I move it in closer to the drift wood the wings either will hit the wall or the positioning of the duck looks odd. Hope that makes sense lol

Cover the wire with Spanish moss. You can buy it at Hobby Lobby. If that isn't an option, airbrush the wire black and its a lot less noticeable.

I cover all my wires with Free Form Air. I'll smoosh enough on there so it looks like a "branch". Once dry I stain it to match the driftwood.

I couldn't remember the name of that product! I saw BrookeSFD16 use it in a seminar, and it looks great!!!

Personally, for commercial work I don't cover it with anything. I just position the wire and the bird where it's mostly hidden from normal viewing.

Maybe I'm not understanding but couldn't you have used a 6" longer piece of driftwood to run from the wall (plaque) to the bird? I change the area the wire comes out of the form so it doesn't interfere with the pose or clearance issues when needed.

Just takes practice … After you do a few you’ll get it down … I always leave way more wire than I’m gonna need and cut it later cus you can’t add it … Well you can if you want to put in a new one which is a PiTA … I don’t recommend it ..

Hot glue a stick or small branch from your yard that flows with your wire. Put multiple if you want to blend even better. Plan for these issues while you are creating your habitat.
