Stiff Cow Hides?

Discussion in 'Tanning' started by Oswalt Tanner, Jan 30, 2023.

  1. What does the pressure washer do? I have a bunch of African skins I need to rehydrate and am wondering the best way to rehydrate them?

It’ll help push water into the flesh side of the skin as they can be a pain in hydration

You think It would be any help for OP to maybe ship there hide out to someone that has a tumbler? All things considered Its pretty good to be able to do 95% of the steps at home.

Not really ! Usually the breaking of the hide is done when the hide is 90 to 95 % dry. Shipping it to someone with a tumbler will take time and there is a big chance that furthere drying will happen. Once the hide dries, it is almost impossible to break the fiberes in the hide.
