You guys are Awesome.. I see where the string is gonna be part of my standing birds cus I have the same issue Brooke talked about .. Thanks for adding tips and reasons for why you do certain things .. It’s So helpful cus we are not all as good as the pros like Brooke and a few others here , I really appreciate the tips … Ive been using less and less caulking in the heads for sure cus when I have a problem.. it’s usually my fault and involves caulking on feathers .. Your pretty screwed if you get it on the facial feathers .. hard to get out .. I’ve learned to leave it let it set up a bit and it comes off very easy … it’s hard to just leave it but if you try and clean it while wet .. forget it , gona make a mess
Sorry I complain about pinfeathers , I really hate them … crap shoot ..can’t do much about them especially in the head on top .. Thanks all great info !

Brooke just so I totally understand . . . Blow some air "in the head" as in the bill opening after pinning the ears then glue the head? Then more from the outside if needed?

These two ducks the Euro and Brewers duck had been frozen in water since the late 90s .. the Brewers was in bad shape so it came out like it came in .. a turd .. but for birds that should been trashed yrs ago they worked OK .. And A couple standing mounts I rarely do .. 2 of the harder Teal to get for us in Ka of the Three and a Hollywood AF22F960-7EA0-4185-9452-237E1D5FE149.jpeg 52D5DDB9-2AFE-42F0-B895-62EF57FEBC7F.jpeg

Yep...that's what I do. Gotta pull the neck skin up to where it goes and pin it too or you'll just blow it down.

If you guys/gals ever need Sprig during the season , let me know I can likely help you out we have millions of them here in KA ..but we can only shoot one , dumb cus there are so many its not funny .. More than in the late 90s when we could shoot 7 .. a lot more .. ask any Ca duck hunter ...

Pay close attention new or maybe the seasoned bird mounters out there . . . the vise thing works great on standing birds!
