Euro-mount On A Head-shot Buck

Customer #1 brought in a buck he wanted euro-mounted. It was shot in the head so I told him it might not be what he's expecting it to be.

Customer #2 brought in a skull from a buck I had previously euro-mounted (he wanted to go ahead with a shoulder mount). The measurements are really close to the buck from customer #1.

Is it feasible to attach the skull plate from the head-shot buck to the other skull? If so, any suggestions on how to make the seam disappear?

    Thanks!

Not in my opinion, buy a artificial skull for the head shot and cut the euro and mount as normal. Save urself a bunch of head aches

X2, in my personal experience the damage was always way worse than expected. Artificial skull or crown mount would be your best bet

  4. I think it is doable. You would have to use some apoxie sculpt of something to blend into the seam. I do like the counterfeit skulls for this type of thing though. I get them from Jim Allred and they are about $100.

  5. yes very easy. cut the skull a little long you dont need much for a shoulder mount.
cut a block of would to skull 2a.jpg skull 1.jpg fit the skull cavity. bondo this wood into the skull. drill a hole and run a short drywall screw into the skull and block.

now cut the other antlers and sand for an almost perfect fit.
once fit is close, use magic smooth to bond the antler and plate to the new skull, you may need one screw to hold the antler plate to the wood block.

remove screw apoxie the hole and blend with apoxie fix it and air brush to match

Great advice John C...I do the exact same thing several time annually. I have NEVER purchased an artificial skull for a WT deer. I throw away dozens of real skulls annually...why not capitalize on them!!!
