I have never had the nerve to attempt a strutter but the cardboard with the wire makes a lot of sense to me. Mind if I ask your choice of adhesive? I have to jump in the deep end of the pool some day. If I get a bird this year might learn on my own bird.

  5. I use silicone caulk on the back to hold up the back quills. By the time I’m done preening and doing the rest of my caulking, the silicone is set. The scaps and breast I use acrylic latex caulk.

Thank you for sharing. As with most things their probably not as intimidating as I think. But when there done good (The way yours and others on here are) there a stunning mount but if their off they are way off. Those dang birds make it look easy but there's a lot going on under the feathers.

Much obliged. I have a nicer Argus I am going to be mounting for my personal collection, if you know of a museum in need of an Argus, or a pure Java Green Peacock, please let me know. Also have pure Burmese Peacocks and Bulwers Pheasants...among other rarities.
    Thanks again -

Peacock pheasants are such cool birds. Very nice presentation!

here is a young, pinfeathered blond mallard and a decent Goldeneye and a better Drake Goldeneye

    Hey Brooke ,
Huge Blondy mallard sure turned out. Looking great .. Might be one of those bigger mallards called
Rouen ducks … they get up to 12lbs .. I’ve mounted a Drake yrs ago and it was so huge I had to use a Snow goose body and it was still smallish .. never weighted it but I’m betting it was about 8 lbs it looked funny next to a regular size mallard .. Not that I’m knocking it or anything but I’ve passed on more than a few Blond hens over the yrs cus to me .. Blond or not it’s still a hen and I don’t ever purposely shoot hen ducks of any kind .. unless it’s wearing jewelry .. maybe …

  16. 4F96B0F6-B725-4FBA-AF4F-2E3D23618FAF.jpeg I got to do a flying one today. Most want strut or gobbling. Nice change and a great pose if you have the wall space.
