Imagine opening your package and finding the "prime" or "very nice" animal in this condition.

Someone used a rather large drill bit to create a hole to attach the cites tag.

Transactions are much more pleasant when the seller discloses the damages. This was not purchased on this thread. This was purchased in the Tapper and Taxidermist Facebook group. I just wanted to share. I'm still shaking my head.

Not making excuses for the seller but if it was registered like they do in MN it has to be skinned and thawed or the DNR either refuses it or uses a damn flat screwdriver to jam a hole to get the tag in.

O wow, that's crazy. Thanks for the heads up.
I will have to start asking for pics of the face if I see that the tags been done through the eye.
The seller mentioned a hole in the shoulder, but not the damage that matters.
It sure is pretty. Maybe I can resell after tanning for crafts.

a shame. very few fur trappers have a clue what a taxidermist needs. with the fur market in the dumps many are peddling animals that no way are taxidermy quality. I do have one 10-12 lb kitten if you or anyone can use it. skinned right, zero damage and the tag thru the eye hole

Your animals have always been top notch. This one I bought to replace one that I lost during a freezer incident that was almost an exact match. If the other had been salvageable, I could have tried to patch in the area. Dangit!
This one was just a tiny big bigger than that first cat I mounted of yours.
I might snag up your kitten. Need to check my finances first.
    Thank ya Bob

my small one is about 22-23" n-t. the damaged face cat, maybe you could send back for a refund, or partial refund. that damaged cat has enough fur and color the trapper should be able to fur market it at a decent price. probably close to $200. cat market is about the only good fur market now. lot of western states auction sales trapper put up cats no feet air dried avg in the $400 range, big little, damaged etc . tops far over a grand on the big ones
