The last 2 of 23 for this year. The left one had no left eye. The customer wants it to show all it's goriness as it was when he shot it. It was really a nasty injury looked like a tine punctured between the duct and the front of his eye . . . can't imagine how bad that hurt?

image.jpeg Here's the ear mounted the next day. They hold there shape well, and still adjustable

I keep wanting to do that with the ears and I will eventually. Even have a earbutt model. BTW Tazzy, great looking eye on that one.

You can also freeze your liner with clay ear butts to harden them, so that you can work them into your ear skin. As they thaw, they can be shaped be pressed on to the mannikin.

I tried freezing, didn't care for that method. For several years I used cast ear butts but there not very adjustable.

That is where I am at with the cast ear butts, not very adjustable. Matuska coats there clay with hide paste which keeps them movable, but the freeze method to me would be a slick option for forming back onto the form. What did you not like about the freeze method?

When you apply the hide paste it freezes

Yesterday's project. Kind of fun for a change up. 65 lbs live weight. Surprisingly I didn't need to alter form. PXL_20230523_154157599.jpg

This is the 6th whitetail I've mounted. Critiques are always welcome! I'm still struggling with maintaining the eye shape when tucking in the eye skin - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

it's going to move all over because it is still wet. You'll have plenty of time to mold the eye into shape as it's trying. just babysit it till it tries.

I have deer on the stands again. I'll put a half dozen or so together and then a batch of fish and then another batch of birds and then repeat. PXL_20230530_161433698.jpg

As I tell my students, "If it on the subject matter the only dumb question is the one not asked!"
Having said that I would start a new thread. You'll reach more who can answer your question that way. I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for you! Take care!
