Hello! I am new here, first post. I'm an Amateur taxidermist mainly focusing on wet specimens. I have wanted to make my own specimen "containers" for a while now but have trouble finding answers. So my question is: what adhesive would be best to use to bond the glass together to make a "tank"? Keep in mind that this adhesive has to be able to withstand isopropyl alcohol 70% (and up!). Ethanol works just as well for me if an adhesive for that is more accessible! Thank you very much!
Huh it dries up faster than you think Never heard of it as you speak of it. Someone is throwing you the bullshit or there like it’s in the tube and and hasn’t set yet and its been months. Or they laid it out like two inches thick and then it might take a month or two. Just go to a aquarium store as they sell silicone for tanks abd you only need a thin coat of it to work plus silicone is one of the only things that will adhere glass so it won’t leak
Have you done this yourself? Still having trouble finding good sources and actual "research". Does it always work if done correctly or are there things I should keep in mind? Also what would you suggest for a lid?
Aquariums are held together with silicone. You might contact a glass company to learn if there is a particular silicone that bonds and seals better than OTC silicone.
Yes I’ve redone my aquariums that either cracked or built one. Talk to a marine person they have a top quality silicones that work.
