Wood Duck Drake feet painting

    I ordered the books you guys mentioned. Thanks alot. Could you please help me out. What colors do you use for the Woodie Drake Feet. I need to finish this duck this weekend. And books will not be here till next week. Thanks for all help. Archives didn't help much. Thanks Jake Schmidt

    Hi Jake,

    I use "wood duck yellow" from Lifetone/hydromist then darken the webs, joints, and back of the tarsus with a payne's grey.  Then I seal the foot and come back and do a wash over the entiire scale pattern with a dark brown watercolor (yeah the kinds the kids play with) add a drop of liquid soap and then you can rub it off again leaving the darker color in the scale pattern.
